The Orb of Xiath

The Orb of Xiath ist ein Performance- und Aufnahmeprojekt, das aus einem Instrument besteht, mit dem experimentelle perkussive, gongartige und jenseitige (d.h. interplanetarische, "runde") Klänge erzeugt werden. Sie fungiert auch als experimentelle Gesangskabine, die die Resonanzfrequenz und Obertöne einer perfekten Metallkugel nutzt, um noch unbekannte Klanggebilde in unsere irdische Dimension zu rufen. 

Wünsche, Oms und reine Kehlkopfschreie von willigen Teilnehmern werden durch den perfekten Klang transformiert, und die Klänge, die dem Orb am besten gefallen, verzerren das aufgezeichnete Material mit ekstatischen Vibrationen von der Oberfläche des Orb. Der Orb beruft sich auf den Geist von Bataille und die Kant'schen Vorstellungen vom Erhabenen, um ein Bild des Heiligen und dessen, was größer ist als alles Menschliche, zu entwerfen. All dies beginnt mit dem Ritual einer Geburt in einem netzunabhängigen Atombunker an der Grenze zwischen Brandenburg und Sachsen zu Beginn des Frühlings.

(EN) The Orb of Xiath is a performance and recording project consisting of an instrument used to create experimental percussive, gong-like and otherworldly (i.e. interplanetary, "round") sounds. It also functions as an experimental vocal booth, utilizing the resonant frequency and overtones of a perfect metal sphere to summon as yet unknown sonic entities into our earthly dimension. 

Wishes, oms and pure guttural screams from willing participants are transformed by the perfect sound, and the sounds the Orb likes best distort the recorded material with ecstatic vibrations from the Orb's surface. The Orb invokes the spirit of Bataille and Kantian notions of the sublime to create an image of the sacred and that which is greater than all that is human. All this begins with the ritual of a birth in an off-grid nuclear bunker on the border between Brandenburg and Saxony at the beginning of spring.
