Alluvium Sound Art

Alluvium is a sound installation-performance that presents a group of singer-performers who are buried up to their necks in the soil of a countryside garden, and who duet with a generative sound installation played from speakers which are also buried beneath the grass. Alluvium engages with the subterranean — reshaping the soundscape of the garden with layered sound emerging from underground. This work plays with a sense of the uncanny that can arise from perceiving sound that has been shifted away from the familiar — sound which has been eroded and reshaped by its surroundings.
